HydroBarrel Specifications
The HydroBarrel is rotomoulded from highly durable linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE), it's non-toxic, BPA-free, medical-grade material. Due to it being non-porous it will not absorb oils, toxins or other contaminants.
It’s easy to keep clean, frost, UV and impact resistant, meaning you won’t need to worry about weather damage - over the years, it will stay looking as good as the day you bought it.
These barrels are lightweight compared to wood, making it easier to move around. They have a smooth internal finish which we recommend using a antibacterial surface cleaner to keep clean. You can also use a chlorine tablet within the HydroBarrel to help keep the water cleaner for longer.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I use a water butt instead of a HydroBarrel as it's slightly cheaper? The main difference between them both is the HydroBarrel has around 20-30% more material added when manufactured, this is because the water butt is too flexible and the floor isn’t suitable for people to climb in and out of. For example: the HydroBarrel 240 weights the same as a 350L water butt. I know it’s a little more expensive, but the Hydorbarrel is designed for climbing in and out of and the warranty will cover this.
- What is the PTFE tape for? This can be added to the tap thread or chiller fixings to stop any drips.
- Can I use a chiller with my HydroBarrel? This should not be a problem, most chillers like the Myo come with fittings.
- Does it have a seat inside? No, we recommend using something like a step stool for a seating option.
- What's the best way to open the top outlet / inlet hole? This can be drilled out, inside the hole is an indent for the drill bit to fit. If needed, we can do this for you. Recommended drill bit size 18mm.
