Product Overview

240 litre Roto Garden Water Butt - Wood Effect Barrel by Roto is beautifully made to blend in with the natural surroundings of your garden. No need to hide this water butt away from visitors as its design and quality will make you proud to show it off!

The rain barrel is roto-moulded from highly durable polyethylene (plastic), which is frost, UV and impact resistant, meaning you won’t need to worry about weather damage and it will retain its colour and appearance over the years. These barrels are lightweight compared to wood, making it easier to move around.

The 240 litre barrel is the perfect size for a medium size garden allowing you and your plants to benefit from using rainwater instead of tap water.

Why Choose This Water Butt?

  • Unlike other water butts, this one can stay full all year round with no risk of splitting.
  • Supplied with two moulded brass outlets, offering a significant advantage over plastic threads. Durable and corrosion resistant, the brass outlets reduce the risk of leaks and prevent cross-threading issues.
  • Wildlife friendly lid collects a shallow 1” pool of water, creating a safe drinking and bathing spot for birds.
  • Easy assembly: Comes complete with a tap, lid, and plug. A diverter inlet fitment is required.
  • Hand finished: Each barrel is individual, made using a rotomoulding process and finished by hand for a premium, authentic look.

Tap Options:

  • Standard Black Tap: A good quality tap for ease of emptying.
  • Harcostar Tap with Hozelock Fitting: This tap allows for easy connection to Hozelock-style fittings and hoses, facilitating convenient water distribution throughout your garden.
  • Harcostar Fast Flow Tap: Designed to provide a 50% faster flow rate compared to standard taps, this option reduces waiting time when filling watering cans or buckets.
  • Brass Tap: Offers a classic and durable design, adding a traditional aesthetic to your water butt setup.

Stand Offer:
To make full use of the 240 litre barrel, you'll need a stand. Without one, using only the upper outlet gives you access to 180 litres. By adding a stand, you can use the lower outlet and access the full 240 litres. Looking for more capacity? Consider upgrading to the 350 Litre Barrel

Transferring Water to the 240 Litre Water Butt:

To transfer rainwater from your downpipe into a 240 litre water butt, you have a couple of options depending on whether you want the water filtered. For unfiltered water, we recommend the Harcostar Rain Trap. It’s a cost-effective and straightforward solution. For filtered water, to remove leaves, moss, and other debris, consider using the Gutter Mate Diverter and Filter or the 3P Filter Collector. These options help keep the water in your butt cleaner for longer.

Once you've chosen a diverter, you'll need to consider the correct hole size. We recommend using a 25mm drill bit for the Harcostar Rain Trap & Gutter Mate, and a 32mm drill bit for the 3P Filter Collector, as both make the job much easier.

Place your water butt in position first, then mark the best location for the hole. Once ready, simply drill and install the diverter.

Available Sizes: These barrels are also available in various sizes, beginning with the smallest at 50L, followed by 140L, 350L, and 480L

    Barrels

We now have two of these barrels, one on a stand and the other on the floor. Against the house they look so much better than our old water butts.

Brilliant in looks and build quality. A bit expensive but if you want the look at the front of your house this is the one to buy.

    barrel and stand

We decided on this water butt as the lid comes completely off and the stand matches. I'm very surprised on how much it looks like a real barrel.

240L GARDEN WATER BUTT - WOOD EFFECT BARREL

Posted by Marion Condon on 3rd Jul 2021

Attractive with matching stand but tap should be supplied BLACK not brown as it is fitted in a black band. Also the tap needs a longer reach to allow for the base diameter at the bottom. I can only fill straight sided watering cans from the equipment supplied, unless I stand and hold them towards the tap - Disappointed.

    Very Pleased

Posted by Bob on 5th Jun 2020

Took delivery of this water butt 4 weeks ago and last night/this morning got its first christening with that rare commodity called rain. Found lid floating on the butt as I had the diverter set to the wrong position. Looks the business stood at the front of the house. Very realistic!
